Clutch Problems
Hi I'm new to the forum and wanted to get some thoughts on a recent clutch burnout on a new 2010 A4 that was purchased in February (2/15/10). This last weekend the clutch blew out. I'm not a hard driver and have never blown out a clutch in the past. The strange thing is, at the 5k initial oil change I did mention that the clutch seemed to stick a bit e.g. when releasing it, half way through the cycle it stuck, then sprung back a little. It was a very subtle but I mentioned it anyway. They did check it out and of course found nothing but said they lubed it up well. (This was all done at the dealer). Could this be directly related to my blown clutch 7,000 miles later?? Could there have been something wrong with the clutch springs or hydrolics that slowly wore it out? Note that the car only has 12,500 miles on it. Any thoughts or advice are appreciated!
Thanks!
Thanks!

That is way too early for your clutch to go bad. Definitely not your fault unless you grind gears every shift, but even then I dont think the clutch will go bad in 12.5k miles.
I myself am a very spirited driver and aggressive shifter but have never had to replace a clutch in under 45k miles for any car. My A4 was also delivered in February 2010, just like yours, so I'm curious to hear what the dealer has to say about it, maybe a faulty synchro? It should be covered under warranty.

Thanks for the response valid. I agree, even if I beat the #@#! out of it (which I definitely did not) it shouldn't have gone. The dealer hasn't looked at it yet but I should hear from him tomorrow. I'll keep you updated with what they find.

I am pretty sure there has been a recall or a TSB on the clutch, but I don't know what is the troublesome part. Had a friend with a A5 that had to have the tranny taken out to replace the clutch - but his would actually stick. I have the same thing as your, where the clutch hesitates sometimes, but not always. I want to get it fixed, but don't feel like having my brand new car ripped apart.
