That is normal for a stock clutch. It will move more toward the top as it wears and when the clutch start to slip in high gears you will know when its time to get a new one. If you want the clutch to grab closer to the floor at some point or when you need a new clutch you will want to buy a South Bend clutch, if you want it more in the middle you will want a Clutch Masters clutch.

yeah i have a stock clutch and it pretty much sucks *****. probably wont need a new one for a little bit, but still i feel like its dinky or something. keep in mind my last car was a 1990 mustang GT, so it was a little more heavy duty i guess. my next clutch will definitely be one that engages lower, and a bit stiffer.

they arent dumb questions at all. everyone has them when they dont know and are too embarassed to ask them. they are the ones that end up damaging their parts because they dont know how to use them.

but yeah that just happens when you drop the clutch too fast. it happens when accelerating and youre trying to get on the gas quickly in low gears. just be easy around the catch point, itll smooth out

Yep, just takes a little getting-used-to. These cars have a somewhat unique pickup I think - I've never driven another car that engages so close to the top of the travel.

I sell both South Bend and Clutch Masters clutch kits. The kits include free ground shipping to anywhere in the 48 states. If you dont live in the 48 states we do offer discounted shipping to anywhere in the world.

Do you own a 1.8t or 2.8?

1.8t clutch page

2.8 clutch page

Is the thud sound you get coming from the back of the car? If so that would be the rear diff hitting the frame. This can be fixed by using the Stern Power Ring, it limits how much the rear diff mount moves.
