Don't know if anyone can help with this.

My A4 developed an issue a few weeks ago when I got a jolt from vehicle while driving & changing gear.

It broke down about 5 mins later with not being able to get into any gear. AA came out & embarrassingly he started car & drove off. He couldn't get fault to replicate & said drive it to garage which I did. Also no issues.

They also said drive it to see if it happens again which it didn't but I bit the bullet & booked it in for new clutch & flywheel.

Garage called to say there's a drive plate that has ring gear on it & a needle bearing in it. The bearing had broken up so they ordered new plate.

I was also getting them to change gearbox fluid as car has done over 160000 miles. on removing drain plug no oil came out.

Turns out the is a Piece of plastic inside box blocking drain hole.

Does anyone know what this could be & could it be what has caused issue.

Don't really want to fork out for a gearbox but may have to.
