Hood won't open

Hood won't open
The hood release cable isn't working. Has anyone had success with getting the hood open without damaging the grille or sawing the hood lock off? I had someone try from underneath, but the radiator was in the way.

Try this , have some pull the cable release while you use you palm and bang on the hood near the latch and see if it pops up.

I've done this. I even disconnected the lever and used plyers to pull on the hood release cable. I could here a clicking noise near the front of the hood, but gave up because I didn't want to damage the cable. It occurred after I got an oil change from the dealer I bought the car from. The car wouldn't start the day after the oil change and the hood wouldn't open. So I ended up having the car towed to the dealer and they asked for $1400 to replace the cable, hood latch and lock after having my car for two weeks. When I got my car back there was no more tension on the hood release lever. I removed it to see that they had ripped the ball on the end of the release cable completely off.
