Have a 2011 b8 a4. I have taken the cylinder head off, oil pan, etc. But I cannot take off the upper oil pan. Do I need to take out the engine block, or can I remove the upper oil pan without taking out the engine block.

I have gotten it loose already, but on the end it just won't give. The end where the transmission is, it seems like something it just holding it and I cannot figure it out. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

 

Did you ever figure this out. I have a motor with a cracked upper oil pan too. Does the engoine block needs to be removed or can i just take thelower oil pan off and then remove the upper??
