I may get beat up here but here it goes. I am new to owning an Audi. So far so great! I love my new car. Got a 2010 A4 Premium FWD. I did drive the AWD and the FWD. I did also notice the difference but as price was my point of interest the most I opted for the FWD. The "torque steer" as it was put is there but not as much as you would think. I have driven some other cars in comparison like my wives Sante Fe which has loads of torque steer. I came from a 02 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab Long bed RWD to the Audi so that is a large change for me. I know that there is a large difference between the two. If price is not a point with you go for the AWD. If it is like it was me then go for the FWD. At the end of the day you only can question your self or be extremely happy with what you bought.

For me. I am goober extremely happy with my Audi.

I think it is a mater of personal preference and dependent on where you live. I know the quattro came in very handy yesterday as I made why way home in blizzard conditions. I passed a few stuck cars ( most noteable a neighbors BMW on the hill leading to our development ). The car is not invincible in these conditions, but does perform better than a lot of others. I did have the FWD CVT for a few years, and I never got stuck in that either... so maybe I am not sure what the answer is.

I drove home on Sunday thru the blizzard as well. Unfortunately, we had the wife's mazda... last time I do that! After we got home, we went out for pizza in the A4 - quattro is definitely the way to go.

Furthermore, I think quattro is one of the defining characteristics of Audi along with the interior and exterior styling. BMW has balance and cornering. Mercedes has repairs bills (sorry couldn't help myself). Lexus has low maintenance. Quattro is what makes an Audi an Audi.
