Angry Read this! Maintenance not covered!

Bought a new A4 last week. Looks great. Salesman calls me today and apologizes but he just found out that there is no maintenance coverage for the 2009 A4! Unbelievable. Since he represented that there was four years and 50,000 miles covered the dealership will make good on it but I had no idea. Is this commonly known? Had that been the deal I would have laid out the extra money on a BMW 335.

Are you referring to the standard 4 year 50K mile warranty or a supplemental coverage he promised you?

I took out a lease on a '09 A4 about a month ago and the only warranty I was promised was the 4 year/50K mile warranty.

Maintenance is $360 for 3 years or $480 for four at the time you buy the car. Those prices are about half of what you would pay if you didn't pay upfront.

Default confused

Sounds like you may be referring to the warranty? It's 4 years 50K miles. The maint package is $650 for all required service up to 50K miles but if you get their maint schedule you'll notice you can do it with a reputable independent mechanic for about $500, so when they tell you you're saving $1000 by buying their service plan, they are high! Only service needed 1st 50K besides oil changes and tires is transmission and break fluid flushes with maybe a set of new plugs, but I'm have conflicting info on this and am waiting to hear back.

Service plans are pretty silly IMO.

Like piotrowr said youcan have good mechanic do it cheaper. Most of the service is checking BS things anyway.

Default How to reset service light

I decided to pass on the $650 maintenance offered, but now I am kicking myself a little bit because the sales guy said that Jiffy Lube won't be able to reset the service light because they don't have the computer.

Does anyone know how to reset the service light?

Default jiffy?

1st off I would not consider Jiffy Lube to be a reputable Audi repair shop. What I did before decided not to purchase the $650 coverage, which I by the way was considering, is call local shops (I'm in the Phx area) who specialize in imports and especially Audi. I made it a point to ensure they have the diog and comp eqp to diagnose issues with the vehicle and can perform all resets, etc.

I do not know how to reset your service light but anyone will tell you that if say your change your own oil or fluids, you yourself should be allowed to reset the service light w/o having to take the thing to the dealer, so your question is valid and hope someone does find out. My guess is the dealer service shop can help but it's hard to inquire as it will come across like why should we tell you if you refused our service plan, right? Well I would be surprised if they do not have a procedure, something to post once someone finds out. It will be some kind of key to on and/or brake tapping combination according to the shop I spoke to. Or it will be in the CAR menu.

Just wanted to add I was informed by one shop these new cars use a special synthetic blend of motor oil, usually required to be Mobil 1 so be sure your local Jiffy lube is aware of the specific requirements for your car or just take it to someone who knows an AUDI...

I would post your ? as a main thread to get better visibility.
