Tick tick tick feeling on shifter
Hi fellas I couldn’t find anything on search (this is hard to describe) so here goes.
2010 A4 2.0 quattro manual tansmission. 80k miles. Car is in immaculate condition.
This past week I’ve noticed a “tick tick tick” feeling in the shift stick. Like a little hammer hitting it. Not audible from cab or when I pop hood. I can’t feel it anywhere else, but it is very noticeable on the stick, especially when applying a bit of pressure to it. It is there in all gears, even neutral. It speeds up with the engine revs. If engine is idling at 700rpm, it feels like it ticks about half as fast.
Any ideas where I should start looking? Bad transmission tooth? Something wrong with a cylinder/lifter? Timing chain?
Thanks for your thoughts!
