My 4th gen Nano will not show up in the MMI screens when connected with a standard USB-to-iPod cable. Is the device incompatible, do I have to buy the ridiculous Audi cable for $54, or what? (2017 A4)

 

I have a new 2017 A4 with the Audi cables, and I too can't get the MMI to recognize or play music from my 7th gen. iPod. Does anyone have a suggestion or workaround?

 

My dealership confirms that the Audi software doesn't support my model of iPod. The guy blamed it on Apple's changing of the protocols to the iPod, and that newer models should work fine. I don't know that he is either right or wrong.

The iPod works fine as the Aux input device, but of course it doesn't charge there, nor can you control it from the MMI.

Disappointing.
