89 100 PASSENGER WINDOW PROBS....
HAVE AN 89 100 AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WINDOW STOPPED WORKING. NO PREVIOUS INSTANCE WHERE IT DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. TOOK THE DOOR LINER OFF AND CHECKED ALL THE CONNECTIONS AND JIMMIED EVERYTHING AROUND. SOUNDS LIKE POWER IS GOING THROUGH THE SWITCH TO THE WINDOW MOTOR (CAN FEEL THE HOUSING CLICKING). DOES ANYONE KNOW IF YOU CAN MANUALLY PULL UP THE GLASS? AND IT SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR PAIN IN THE *** TO GET AT THE MOTOR? ANY IDEAS???? OR SUGGESTIONS??
There are basically two common problems that I know off.
1) the cable jumped of the pulley(s), take the door panel off and put the cable back on the track.
2) the silver plated contacts on the switch are oxidized. Get a new switch, about $20 and easy to replace. The switch is sealed so forget about trying to service it. If one switch fails then both driver side and passenger side will not work. This happened on my car, the passenger side went bad and driver side wouldn't operate the window. If this is the case you can still operate the motor by jumping the contacts.
3) the motor burned out.
4) the teeth got striped inside the window regulator.
5) water got in and froze, if you live in the colder climates.
