Default 95 Cabriolet Trans fluid

I jsut picked up this Cab and I need some wisdom. The Auto trans is a CLR code. The dipstick says Dextron but when I try to get my shop to service the trans and filter they are advised by the dealer to use the Audi/Petosin trans oil.

Does anyone know the truth? I have contacted AUDI and they feign ignorance of such things and refer me to the dealer- using the logic that if they are wrong then they will stand behind the work. Needless to say the dealer charges 3 times as much for the service. AUDI recommends using the dealer and, in essence, buying the insurance policy of the dealer guarantee.

I would like to avoid a blown trans in general. What do you think?
