Default Audi 100 axle question

My friend just replaced the drivers side axle on his 92 Audi 100. He had trouble getting it in and now there is a serious vibration in the car. I looked through his manual and noticed that the left & right shafts are a different length. I think he put in the wrong shaft but I need to know how much difference in length there is. He measured 1/4" difference from one to the other but I think that he's got the same shaft on both sides. Anyone know. Thanks.

Default RE: Audi 100 axle question

Are these remanufactured? Often the boneheads at the shops can't tell the difference and miss mark them. Also it could be possible that the shaft itself is bent due to a previous accident or violent failure. Important lesson: never return your parts until you are satisfied that the remanufactured parts are correct and work. Too often in the past I have given up my better cores for some useless junk. Now I either rebuild it myself or buy new.
