Audi 80 Stuttering

Audi 80 Stuttering
So last night I was at the store, and we just got our first snow here, and I turned on my car after shopping and was letting it warm up.
After a few minutes the car began to stutter slightly, but as I drove off it seemed to be okay and I just figured it was cold.
About 10 minutes into my drive, very close to home, the stuttering came back and much stronger, it was kinda coming in and out every few seconds, but it was definetly there and increasing. The peak was that I just could not accelerate, if it wasn't for already having speed I probably would have stalled, pushing the gas sometimes would break through the stuttering, and other times it would just make it worse.
I got the car home and parked it. This morning I went and checked the spark plugs and wires since I had recently changed them. Turned it on and it was okay for a couple minutes. Then the stuttering started happening, and if I put the car in to gear it would stall.
Finally, now, the car just turns off after a moment of being on.
It is clear to me that something was failing over the past 12 hours. And now it seems to have failed.
My first guess is the fuel pump, but I wanted to get some opinions.

My order of attack:
First I am going to turn the car key, but not start the car. See if I can hear the fuel pump turn on.
I will check the Relay if maybe that is bad. Its easy to replace.
I will probably replace the filter no matter what. Its an old car (1995) and probably time.
Finally, if I cannot get function from these changes I will do the pump.
