Hey,

Since a day or two the engine of my audi stalls or almost stalls at idle. If it does not stall it will drop to about 200 rpm and wave a little around before setteling at 800. The problems seems worse when the engine has warmed up a little. Cold it will idle fine. Before it started the rpm's would not go below 1500rpm for a few minutes. It could be that it had a show circuit before the problems started because i drove through a big pool.

Do you guys have any idea what it could be?

I think it may be the Idle Screw Adjust valve. There is a sticker under the hood ( at least under my hood) explaining where it is and where it should be set to a certain range. My 5000 does that when its warming up. It sputter down to 800 rpm then goes up,down,up,down....

 

It's your Differential Pressure Regulator. It's along your main intake tube, it looks like a little cylinder. If you replace that problem will go away.

 

I swear, the more I read this forum the more similiar my car becomes to all the problems. I had a hard time starting it today. It started with what sounded like a backfire, prolly due to flooding,due to starting alot,, but it would go up to idle speed, stuttuer,try to climb back up but trip and die if I dint get the gas going. It idled cleanly after a while but its strange. I checked and there is a hole in the piping from the giant plastic thing with a 1inch hole in the middle that does god knows what to a pump looking thingy. When the car was running, I stuck my finger in there to see if it was an EGR but nothing, squeeze it nothing happens.

Do you have a picture of this Differential Pressure Regulator ?

 

I don't have one and can't seem to find one online. but i will try to remember to take a picture of it on mine when i get to work today (as my car is at my shop awaiting me to fix it). If i do i'll put it up tonight.

 

Clean your IAC. There are numberous articles about how to do it.
After that look for a leaky vacuum line.
