Default Audi cabriolet air bag light

Hi,

The air bag light came on the other day on my '97 2.6 cabriolet. I have been told to disconnect the plug under the seat, clean it and then re-connect. However I had a quick look under the seat and could not see any plugs. Is it hidden somewhere or could it be that my car does not have this plug. In which case any tips to make the light go out?

I did take the battery off recently to re-charge it, but the light only came on about 70 miles later so I am not sure if this is relevant?

Any advice you guys can offer would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I am having the same problem but when I took it to the Audi dealership, the diagnostic did not give out any codes implying and its only an assumption that there is nothing wrong with the system and it may just be the light bulb. They would have to take out the whole freaking dash to get to the bulb, look at it to make sure it is the bulb and change it. I havent fixed it yet because they want an arm and a leg for that crap too.

wait, if burned out bulb, then you need to check it.

Mine is on becouse I drovethe car with airbags off, actually with the whole dash out and stering wheel that was not tightened in.

if its on thats mean bulb working, they checked it with a regular scaner or a VAG-COM couse many dealers have no VAG COM and cant do much too.
There is a way to make the Vag com but I cant find a specific chip, so I am in stand still.

Hello, I have a 1995 Audi Quattro Air bag light came on while driving I have the Vag.com cables comming. I have the shop manuals also. I have never heard of A VW / Audi Dealer with no Vag 1551 Scanner / printer. You have to have this or you can't diagnose these cars. The 1551 will tell you where there is a open or shorted wire and where at setbelt spiral spring and such. Its a must have for the dealer. I have all the charts for the vag and aidis and VW's.

I have been working on Vw's since I was 17 and I am now 35 been doing it for myself and a few others.

I guess I can't believe that a Audi dealer has no Vag scanner. The ones on E-bay will read and clear but not give you the Function diagnosis (live readings)

Please let me know how your Audi cabriolet Airbag came out.

The best way to reset the airbag light in any Audi is to replace the entire airbag system. This way you're safe, there's also a ton of airbag light reset procedures at http://www.safetyairbags.com/audi-airbags.html
