Default Could this possibly be the end?

I have been experiencing some horrible problems lately with my engine. The problem is that ever so often the engine acts as if it is stalliing, and seems to bog down when I press in the gas pedal. The rpm will climb barely from 700rpm to just under 2000rpm when I try to start moving. When I try to rev the engine, it starts making puttering noises. Needless to say the car doesn't move when this happens. It had happened occasionally before, but now in the past few weeks, it is getting more and more common, and the duration that this occurs gets larger and larger. It is more frequent during starting and in low gears but has happened in high gears too.
Is this misfiring, backfiring, or something completely different?
If any clearification is needed please let me know, I need this issue solved asap.

The CIS system is relatively straightforward, check the simple stuff first, fuel pressure, timing, etc.

I took it to the garage today and they found that my ignition rotor had a hole burnt in it, which pertains to my problem (I now know that the problem was misfiring on acceleration). So if the problem does not show by Monday, which is me putting about 300km on it, They'll consider it fixed, which it probably will be after 300km on it.
