O.k. If I'm posting all of these questions in the wrong place please let me know. It seems that the other sections
lean towards all the newer audi's....maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway I notice My '86 4KQ always lope's 2-3 times when coming to a complete stop with the clutch engaged then returns
to a smooth proper idle. It always turns over really well in the morning and other than the engine loping at stops runs really good.
Is that a Audi thing for this particular motor? I can't remember my other 4KQ doing that when I owned it before.

Thanks -CJ

Nevermind....I'm pretty sure it's the "Idle Control Valve" sticking. A little more reseach on my part would have prevented this wasted post.

Mine loped pretty badly when i bought it, i changed all the vacuum lines and cleaned out the idle control valve with carb & choke cleaner, it works much better now and hardly lopes when coming to a stop, although it can still be a little finicky when it's cold. I'm not willing to drop 300 on a new icv though...

Cleaning the ICV and replacing vaccum lines does wonders. If the ICV is trash get a used one.

I get my parts New and used fromChris Semple at Force Five in Concord NH . 603-223-6700.
