Default my 5000 non-turbo

hey guys, just bought a computer and am new to the forum

anyways, i have an 87 5000 engine code NF, i advanced the timing per various posts i've seen here (today in fact) and results were satisfying, i was wondering if anyone could tell me any gains that would be seen from a cat-back exhaust, and gains that would be seen from techtonics tuning's 109.600 cam thanks in advance guys

p.s. am going to try lucas mineral oil in power steering hopefully it stops the leak, luxury is expensive!!!!

Cat back exhaust on a non-turbo????

im not sure how much difference that would make on your non turbo, but you would definetely and hear the difference, it depends how big you want your exhaust to go, i would go no more than 2.25-2.5

yup 2.5' would be big enough 5-10hp gain maybe, the cam could give you more ... the cam could add about 10-15% gain in hp and torque

A cam will be hard to find and exhaust you will probably need to be fabricate from scratch. With a cam and bigger exhaust I doubt that you are going to feel any noticeable real world difference.

well i would consider the cam if I was doing a full timing belt service and also would have to replace the hydraulic lifters ... how many monies for the exaust ?

Timming belt service is not too hard , and having the proprer tools, some special ones will be needed, can make it almost seem easy .... well if you plan to keep the car than you could do all that .... but before you do any cam or exaust mods make damn sure everything is working right
