Need some coupe window regulator info
Hey fellas. Well i got my new rebuilt coupe window regulator for the drives side, with cables, motor, everything i need.. bec my 89 coupes was shot all to hell (tension things broke, cables freyed, everything).. ok this is the thing.. my wiring off my old window motor went to the switch, but it had a yellow and green wire spliced into it comming from some wires that lead from the interior of the car (prob the relay area under the steering wheel). Well my new motor (the "new" regulator i got is from a 90 coupe i believe) has the same wire, BUT nothing has ever been spliced into it.. it just hooks up to the window switch... i pluged it in, and the window went up and down.. but what was the purpose of those wires that were spliced into my old motor wire? One thing it doesnt do now, is it does not go ALL the way down with one touch....
my question is, should i re splice those wires back into the motor wire like it was on my old one? or just leave it as is?? I just wanna know what they were for before i put the door panel back on. Those wires were spliced in at the factory, so i dunno.., what do you guys think??

Well, i decided to go ahead and splice those other wires in... and nothing different happened..
It still doest not go down with "one touch" like it did before, but that isnt too important to me. One weird thing is that when i push the button to make the window go down, there is a "click click click" sound from under the dash (i looked and its comming from this black box that is to the top of the aux relays).. i hope this is normal. I am just happy to have a window that rolls down now

My fiance has an 86 5k cs quatro she has the same problem of the window not rolling down with one touch... believe it or not.. it is just the window relay. however.. hers get stuck every once and a while and will only roll down.. even on its own.. be carefu... just get a new relay and you should be ok.
Ah thanks for the info! So far it has been working fine.... it sorta rolls down like it will roll alll the way down like it is supposed to, but it doesnt. I wouldn't know which relay is which down there. I will have to look into that. These audis are cool but hella expensive to keep on the road
