Default Oil Selection for the 2.8 V6

I have a 1993 90 CS with the 2.8 V6. It has 197,500 kms on it and was wondering if anyone has some insight on what grade oil I should be using. I am relatively new to the Audi scene and wonder if there is a specific grade that I should be using or avoid. Oil change place in town suggested a Penzoil High Mileage 5W30.

Also, want to change the Tranny fluid and I know not to use Dexron II (the pink stuff)...any recommendations?

Thanks,

The oil type really depends on where u live, if u live in a cold climate use 5w-30 and if warmer u can use 10w-30, anything works 5w-30,10w-30 and 10w-40(not really used) but i recommend 5w-30, good viscosity levels through temperature ranges and for transmission fluid u can use Dextron 3 if u have an automatic and if u have a manual use Synthetic G50 or SAE 75/W90 gear oil, good luck!
