Exclamation 1997 a4 Computer Problem? Please help

Hi there,

So I have an audi a4 from 1997, while I was driving all of a sudden the check engine light went on and the car only drove on 3 cylinders. I tried to get home as I was only a few kilometers away and the car just stopped, couldn't and still cant get it to start. I initially thought it was the ignition module as this had happened once before and that was the problem, but when I changed it the car still did not start.

Decided to buy an OBD2 analyzer in order to figure out what was not working, but when I plugged it in it said that the link between the obd and the car could not be established. I tried it on Chevy Van express and the OBD 2 analyzer worked. So now my question is do you think it may be the computer itself that is faulty or am I not doing something correct.

If you think that it is the computer how do I go about fixing it, any shops I should call? Any idea of cost for a reprogram? I saw some software online called EcuFlash would this work with my 1997 a4? Is it difficult to reprogram ( flash ) a computer? Any Help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you, Have a nice day
