2003 Audi TT Quattro ECU Replacement
I own a 2003 Audi TT Quattro (as indicated by the title) and my car is in the shop (which isn't unusual). They are replacing the ECU chip for $2000 and claim the estimate is so high because of the parts and labor. I see the the ECU itself is $1000 so... okay... but where is the other $1000 coming from?
This youtube video shows someone taking out the chip in ~90 seconds
The drive to the dealership is ~30min away from the mechanic I used; labor is 100/hr. Now, maybe i'm undermining what the machines do, but I'm guessing that they don't need a team of rocket scientists tinkering away at my ECU chip for the next 9 hours.
Sorry for the rant. I haven't paid yet (and they've had my car for over 3 weeks now diagnosing the problem) so can someone please shed some light as to what they're doing to my car/maybe something I can say to get them to come down on the price.
