99 audi a6 throttle valve problem
im getting the throttle valve codes... ive tried resetting it with the scan tool i have (auto enginuity) and it doesnt seem to work. it idles different and at 1500 rpms it surges???? so i pretty sure it has throttle issues but cant decide what exactly...any help
Hey, I have has a VERY similar issue with a 02 passat. (Same Engine block as 98-03 2.8 30V). Now, Turns out that the guy who replace the engine block fucked up and basically shorted out Gray/white-Black wire going to ECU from CamShaftsensor and forgot the other one...
Point is, the comp is supposed to send out a controlled ground to the that wire, instead it started screwing up and NOT sending anything. After opening the computer I found a few caps fucked over as well as one of the lines burnd out. After fixing it, I found one last problem. When reving up to 1500 it starts jumping up and down from 1500-3000. If higher its ok. Turns out the actual brains in the throttle body are fucked.
My suggestion: Don't waste time. Replace it.

I fixed the ECU myself and it was a fume issue, meaning something else caused which also caused the throttle body to **** up. All I had to do left was change the throttle body. And after that had to recalibrate it with a LAUNCH scanner. I think VagCom might actually be able to recalibrate it.
Basically. Buy a new TB.

well see the original complaint on the car is that the original driver was driving the car and he was playing with his seat heater and the **** got stuck and than smoke came from the dash and than his car was running weird like it is now... i took apart the ac/heater control assembly to get to the seat heater and the **** is warped from being hot cause it not to be able to turn. so i assume thats where the smoke came from and so maybe that fried something in the ecu causeing the throttle body to malfunction too??? do you know what caused your fume issue in your car???
ECU is Engine Control Unit. No way are they even tied together. Plus, the Throttle body is the problem 110% if it starts screwing up at 1500 RPM. Personal Experience.
same problem just happened to mine I did a lot of research and basically this can also happen anytime the battery is disconnected even for a minute. The throttle body looses communication with the ECU and has to be reprogrammed. I got it reprogrammed at an audi dealer for 61 dollars. A Vag-com also has the tools necessary to do this yourself.
i was just wondering...ive been trying to figure out any way these two things might have something similar but yeah i havent found anything. must have just been random than. this all happened i think over a year ago. this car was left behind the shop after the big estimate given for the car saying it needed a motor. they checked tdc on cylinder 1 and they said it was way off but i can start it and all the valves are still there and there isnt any touching. i havent double checked tdc but it cant be off considering the car runs and not bad given the throttle body issue.
