adjustable fuel pressure regulator
hi all............i just bought a adjustable FPR with fuel pressre gauge with it........just wondering how much pressre should i set??
i have AMD chipped,k&n filter,performance exhasut with de-cat and spark plugs............thanks for help

lol, not really.
You need a way to view your fuel trim as well, preferrably an EGT gauge or wideband o2 sensor. Dont just make adjustments in the dark, or even based on suggestions of others. Every motor/setup(this is why cars use adaptive ECU mapping) is unique and you run the risk of going too lean or too rich which can cause serious issues.
If you dont have a turbo/supercharger or nitrous then you can make rough adjustments with an air/fuel gauge with less risk, but dont even try it if you use any forced induction. Common A/F gauges dont have a wide enough calibration range to even view the proper mix let alone dial it in.
4 bar would be a safe setting, but its a complete waste of an adjustable FPR. Its a (commonly used) rough enrichment to make a modded car run smoother/more safely. I trust you bought a full adjustable unit for the ability to really dial in the tune, which you need more information to do.
A leaner mixture makes more power, so if you can get away with say a 3.8 or even a 3.9 bar setting youre that much better off then the run-of-the-mill 4 bar drop in regulator. Go do some research on EGT's, Wideband o2's, and air/fuel tuning and you will be way better off.
Most importantly: Dont adjust ANYTHING in the fuel system until you know what you are doing and why. The results can be catastrophic if you make a mistake.
I always new, 12.5:1 is max power, 15.5:1 is max economy.
the stock is about 35psi, so thats 2.3bar of preasure..
the advantages of the user regulated fuel preasure regulator is that you can set more presicelly the actuall flow of the injectors. So that you could get 0% trim. There is no way to set the eracher or leaner, at the end if screw up you just get a CEL. Thats for OBDII, for OBDI that are like last ones, they still dont have any point. the older system, like CIS or like that, the FPR is good, couse you can actually tune the map close to what you want.

For my 2.7T (running 100% injector duty cycle, MAF read 280 g/sec, still stock K03), I would prefer an AFPR with gauge right on it. Until re-tune is done, I want to run a bit higher pressure to avoid lean at higher RPM.
