Check Engine Light and Flashing the computer
I own a 99.5 Audi A4 1.8t quattro and I recently had a cylinder 3 misfire. I changed the ignition coil and ignition control unit but the car still misfired. I had it towed to a mechanic and was told that I needed a new engine computer. I bought a new ecu and installed it and now the car runs great but the check engine light is on. I was told by the mechanic that the part I had purchased was for an Automatic car and mine is a manual and therefore the check engine light is on. I called the parts department and they said that the part they sent is the right one and that I need to have the computer flashed.
The part that was originally on the car was 8D0 907 557 P D06. The part that was purchased is 8D0 907 557 P D07. Is there a difference between D06 vs. D07. computer? Should I have the computer flashed?
Please help!
