ECU chipped or not

ECU chipped or not
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to tell if my car has been chipped or not?
It,s an '03 RS6 (recent purchase)
I was checking things under the hood and noticed a few things:
Black case covering ECU etc. was missing a bolt at the back.
inside - There were grinding marks near one of the two screws/rivets
on the metal case.
Thoughts anyone?
