Default Newbie with an awesome '08 A4 and a not so awesome P0089 code...

Hey all, brand new to the forum here and new to Audi too. Last week I bought a 2008 A4 at auction (4 cylinder engine, auto tranny, 143k miles, ). I love the car, but it's throwing a P0089 code and is sluggish to accelerate from stops. No hesitation at highway speeds, but I really don't have a frame of reference for performance so take that with a grain of salt.

Those symptoms screamed "FUEL SYSTEM!" to me, so in preparation for replacing maybe a fuel pump/regulator/filter I started shopping around for parts. My local Napa guy says I have to get all those parts directly from Audi. Is that right? Seems like at 10 years old, the car would have some aftermarket parts available.

So to be more specific regarding the code and the parts, what are your thoughts? I appreciate you all being here and whatever advice you can offer while I search Amazon for a better scan tool...lol!
