Default Oil Change

Hi guys, I just bought 2007 Audi A4 and I had a question about the oil change. Usually, for all my cars I go to Firestone to get my oil changed, and I was planning on doing that with the A4 as well. However, someone told me that I should always go to the Audi dealership if I need to change or replace anything with the car, including an oil change. My question is, should I always go to the Audi dealership, or can I go to Firestone or any other auto shop?
Thanks!

While I wouldn't use Firestone (they probably don't carry the correct oil or filter), I would certainly have no issue taking my car to a shop which specializes in German and/or European cars. Keep in mind, most German cars, Audi included, have very specific requirements for their oil; in the case of your car you need to make sure the oil meets the VW/Audi 502.00 oil specification. There are a number of brands that have a grade or two which meet the specification and is available here in the States; Mobil 1 0W-40 and Castrol Syntech 5W-40 are two of the more popular oils.

Agreed , stay away from chain stores for your service needs. You will NOT be getting the proper oil & filter for the $14.95 oil change special.
Find a good independent shop that specializes in Euro Vehicles.

What the hell would you know about maintaining a car; all you have is a tricycle.

Yeah If you have the know how and the tools which '07 requires a special tool that connects to the oil filter to drain it. I would go that route that way you know its done right.

if your car is a turbo be sure to use a REAL synthetic oil, castrol syntec is not!!! i put 199xxx on my 01 jetta 1.8T with 10-30 amsoil atm real synthetic, although their prices are getting out of sight even with prefferred customer discount
