Default diamond gloss

has anyone tried the "diamond gloss" from ziebart? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.[sm=happy046.gif]

supposedly......

Diamond Gloss is the best protection you can get for your car.

It protects against aging weathering and even acid rain and is backed by Ziebart's national warranty. Diamond Gloss is not a wax or silicon polish, but new proprietary technology for automotive finishes that never dulls and never needs waxing. So protect the value of your vehicle by protecting the finish.

* Acid Rain
* Damaging UV Rays
* Salt
* Water spotting
* Bird droppings
* Pollution
* Bug splatters
* Tree sap
* Mud & dirt

When the Americans say BS they do not refer to a British Standard but rather to Bull $hit and this is what these type claims are-
If you like the colour of your paint and would like it to stay that way for awhile wash, clay the surface and apply a polymer sealant (they really do what they say insofar as they provide real protection. Enjoy the new vehicle...

Lifetime Paint Protection:
There is no polymer, synthetic or natural wax, or after-market product available that can provide a (2 or 5 year) lifetime protection to a paint film surface.

The primary protection provided for a modern water-based colour coat is a polythene paint that has a thickness of 2-3 Mils (0.002-0.003") this is protected by a sacrificial barrier of wax or synthetic polymer sealant.

This barrier is all that stands between the environmental contaminants (ultra violet radiation, acid rain, ozone, industrial pollution, rain, road dirt and tar, etc) and the paint film surface. This renewable barrier is less than 0.000001" thick.

While it’s true that a polymer paints melting point is 350+oF, it is still subject to evaporation and erosion by the elements and vehicle washing. However its durability is approximately five or six months. The technology for a lifetime protection for a vehicles paint film surface does not currently exist.

Togwt, amen to that and I second that. The only thing I can add is about the warrenty. If you read the fine print in order for the warrenty to be valid, You have to re apply the product every 6 months. which is what is recommended on a car anyway. I'm sure the product is a synthetic polymer which needs to be applied every few months or so. Think about your car warrenty, if you don;t change the oil per the schedule, when something goes wrong internally, that would be their out, you failed to live up to the maintinence schedule. I will admitt, its a great marketing toll they are using, it fools 80% of the public. Gary
