Oxidation on the roof of my '02 A4?
Hello,
I have a 2002 Audi A4 that has what appears to be oxidation on the roof of the car. I am assuming oxidation just by the looks of it but I am not 100% sure. I am hoping that it is only in the clear coat and has not penetrated all the way down into the base coat. I always google my problems before starting a new thread but all the pages I found looked nothing similar to what my problem is. I will include photos below. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated as to which products to use and how to get rid of the problem. Thank you in advance! You will see in the pictures below where I just tonight used turtle wax polishing compound and scratch remover (in a green plastic container its solid not liquid) and it seemed to get rid of the harsh stuff but in the other pictures you will see that from a different angle it still seemed to leave some. Also there is some cloudiness on my hood that is different from the roof. Any help is greatly appreciated again. Thanks!

the hood looks like the clear is starting to go but the roof is wierd. Most of the time when clear coat fails it goes in spots not like that alligator skin look. If the rubbing compound is making it look better just go with it, you have nothing to lose if the clear is gone.

Alright I am making a point of it to go back and resolve old threads that I forget to post what I did. I am sorry for digging up old ones but at least for me it is nice to see a complete post.
You guys are right and it was a clear coat failure. i dont have the dough right now to repaint so me and my friend went with rubbing compound and meguilars cleaner wax over that and it cleaned it up real nice.
Although after a while it starts to make it's way back but it seems like it isn't as much as before. If I keep up with the routine it should get better and better.
Anyway that's my position right now and I appreciate the help guys. Thanks again.
