RE: 2001 A4 1.8T speaker sizes
I think you can just pop off the speaker covers and measure them if you want. I did that with my friends really old volvo wagon so maybe you can do that with those speakers?
Hope this helps.

don't try that, you'll break them. you have to take the door panels off and access the speakers from behind. you local audio shop should be able to tell you what size you have.

you need to pull that door panel off. you probably have a 4" or 51/4" speaker, most likely a 4. JL does not make a 5 1/4" component speaker, and you cant fit a 6.5" without heavy heavy modification. if your local JL dealer carries T.M.A. i would suggest that. It is JLs entry level product. I work at a stereo shop and we are a JL dealer. I installed a full TMA stereo (51/4" components, 2 12" woofoers, and 2 360.2w amps) it is very impressive for the price, and is JL quality.

RE: 2001 A4 1.8T speaker sizes
I went to Crutchfield.com It says that the front doors are 4" rear doors are 3-1/2" and rear deck is 6-1/2" This is on a B5 A4 1.8TQM Sedan. Some people say that the doors are 5-1/4" so I don't know I'll be taking them off tomorrow so I'll know for sure. Hopefully they are 5-1/4 cu they sound better but anyways hope this helps.
