I know that there are 6.5" speakers in the rear deck but I'm not sure about the front. I've read that people have fit 5.25" in the front, but I recentlytried to have a Boston Acoustics component set that sizeinstalled in my '01and I was told that they were too deep and that the windows would hit them when put down. You might also try looking into 4" speakers for the front. I was told that the size of the factory speakers are actually around 4.5".

 

for the front you need adapter to install 5.25's since the factory's are a 4 inch but there are mounted a little different then most, i have polk momo's 5.25 with soundstream tweeters up front and polk momos 6.5's in the rear i have the adapters for the rear speakers but didn't need them with the momos.

on the bostons i have not seen the new bostons but unless they are super deep then i don't see why they would fit maybe the installer just didn't want to do it because he was scared to work on an audi i would take it somewhere else (or do it yourself) and see what happens

 

They're not much deeper than any other 5.25",but whatever. It's probably for the best. I was gonna pay $640 for a comp set, some 6.5's, and a 2-door dynamat kit including install. Now I found a guy to do it for free, so I'm now getting 4" and 6.5" Polks, 50 sq. feet of dynamat, a used 600 watt Jensen amp, and a sub for like $500.
