Default 2001 Audi TT Double Din?

** moved to Electronics**
I have an 01 TT Quattro Roadster (I love this fun car)! Although I LOVE the sound of the BOSE Concert factory stereo, I would really love to put a double din in it. I have searched hi and lo and come up blank each time. There is absolutely NO ROOM left in this little car. Every inch has been utilized. The only place I can see possible it to somehow 'cut' out the ashtray and have something fabricated to fit. I've also thought about the flip-out/up old school style (which I can reconsider) but the placement of the radio isn't the best fit for the car :/ Anywho, anyone have expericence or ideas? Pictures and links would be helpful... Thanks

ImOwte - I too have a 2001 TT Roadster looking for something to possibly replace the Bose head unit. Have you been able to confirm that there is a wiring harness that will work with current head units? Or if there are any other wiring mods required to mate a new head unit with the wiring harness?

I'm interested in hearaing if you get any replies to your post...

Hi, I'm not sure about any harnesses (yet) but I have been in contact with MADNESS AUTOWORKS out of Long Beach, CA and I'm waiting for the owner to contact me back (I spoke with one of the sales reps. They fabricate, etc. on site. I got their info from the owner of Pogera Racing out of Germany. If for some reason Madness Autoworks can't fabricate the console to allow for a double din, then they can order the console from Germany for me. The console in Germany is 215 euro (which with the exchange rate is about $245). That may sound like a lot but at this point, I just want a double din! lol When I hear anything else... I will be sure to update.. also, give the guys at Madness Autoworks a call.. they were super helpful on the phone.. and I'm all the way in Augusta, GA and they are willing to offer help! Here is their website (which I do not endores! lol)

I'm not sure how to add a picture but here is a link to the one in Germany. If you click on the picture, it will open larger image:
