Amplifier subs, and mad static. HELP!
I recently finished installing my sub and my amp, and now am experiancing some trouble. For starters, reconnecting the the negative terminal on the battery now gives off sparks and sometimes smokes a little bit. Could this possibly be because of the amplifier power cable being fairly close to the terminal?
Second, All the wires are connected properly, yet the power light won't come on when it's supposed to. It doesn't even turn red indicating a faulty connection somewhere.
Thirdly, when I am driving, the amp (or sub) will sometimes come on and off, what is causing that?
If anyone can aleviate my frustration with the issues above, please drop me a line.

Trying gettting a capacitor, it should help the coming on and off
if you have you amp wired directly to both leads of your battery that isnt a good idea you should grounf it under your floor mat in the trunk and youll be good there and everything he said before me is right
people who have no clue should not mess with a car like audi way too complicated for a normal person

Hmmm... Since amp wiring kits come with a short ground wire I'm going to assume it's not wired directly to the battery, and further that you are using heavy enough wire (I took the cheap route on my truck and had problems until the inline fuse and surrounding wire finally melted). I would definitely make sure the ground is good before looking at anything else.
the aparking is normal, and like what was said before, you might have a bumb remote turn on. It also sounds like you have a loose ground for your amp, make sure it is connected properly and tightly before doing anything else, and if all else fails, let a professional do it.
