I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, but I have searched high an low and not found a definitive answer yet.

I recently bought a 2003 A4 1.8T Convertible as a project since it was cheap. The issues with it are: windows don't work, door locks don't work, top will not go up or down, airbag light on.

After a bit of research I decided to check the Comfort Control Module and sure enough it is beyond toast (corroded) so I'm looking for a replacement or a place that rebuilds them. The part number on it is 8H0 959 433 C. I am not finding that exact part number anywhere but I was told by Audi that the latest part number to supersede it ends with the letter "L". I also came across a web site that said numbers ending in "G" and "E" would be compatible.
Does anyone know if there are any other models that will work? I see several other CCMs on Ebay for around $100 whereas the "E" and "L" ones are around $400+. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Also, once I find and install one, do I need to have it programmed? If so, is that something that I can do myself (If so which tool/software would it require?) or does it need to go to an Audi dealer?

Final question: am I correct to assume that the windows and doors will be affected by this? I have put off diagnosing the roof since I think that it won't open no matter what if the windows and doors are inop.

 

Thought I'd give an update. I replaced the Comfort control module and got the door locks and windows to work properly. The key fob still doesn't work but I suspect that is a matter of programming. I have borrowed a VAG Com cable (original) from my brother in law and it has been a great help. Also, I was able to reset the airbag light. My main issue remaining is that the convertible top won't open. But I think I will start a different thread for that matter.
