I recently fixed a leak in my 1998 audi a4 on the passanger side and i was wondering if this had anything to do with my dash lights. They flicker randomly from bright to dim and back. The oil temp and the coolant temp gauges both don't work i don't think this has anything to do with it. I'm also planning on sending it in to fix the missing pixels in the main LCD screen. I don't know if they would be able to fix it when they fixed that. Everything is helpful. Thanks

i am having same problems lol ...wenever i start my audi a3 all the dash board lights starts flickerin n sometimes they goes totally off ....n sometimes they cut the engine completely off ...spent about 480 to fix things nothing happend gave up ....but one of my mate gave me an idea ..wich works ...any time u wana fix the problem for a day or two ..just take the wires from the battery off ok leave it for two or three minutes then put on the iwires back to the battery ....dats just a temporary solution n if u find a perfect solution for it plz let me know ...regards

 

I think this fixed my problem but the toggle under my clock controls the dimmer and if you twist it a little this may help

 

ive been having this problem with flickering dash on my A4 1.9 tdi yr 2000.i thought it was a faulty dash but discovered if you remove the battery terminals for 2-3 mins and reconnect them the problem is gone and all works fine for 2-3 days then starts up again,this suggest's that the problem is likley to be a faulty earth somewhere and a build up off static is the real problem .i'm still looking for the real fault. hope this helps ,seems its a common problem on A4's 96-2002.

 

Ive got the same issue on a Audi A3 2000, It started flickering a couple of weeks ago. So i re fitted the fuse for the dash board and everything was fine however last night with heavy rain its all started again but worse than it was. I'm hoping its a earthing issue and not the Dash.

 

yeas.my audi a4 dash stll flickering too when its cold. still to find a permanent cure ,probily need run a new earth wire from the dash .
