every time i turn on the radio now im getting the safe message and no music

Your radio is in SAFE mode because the power was shut off for some time. You will need the radio code in order to get it unlocked. The code is in the manual. If you don't have the code, you will need to take it to the stealership and have them bend you over to fix it. Costs anywhere from 60 to 130 bucks.

No, we can't just tell you the code, because it is individual to each radio serial number. You should call around, I've heard of some dealerships giving them out for free over the phone. I'm in the same pickle and don't want to pay money for it, so I've gone 2-3 months now with no radio.

 

i will sell you my radio with the code for 100 bucks it was only in there for 2 weeks

 

once you get the code, what do you do? I have a '96 B5 Q 2.5 L

 

I found the code for my stereo, but when I press the RBDS and P-Scan buttons at the same time nothing happens...any ideas?

 

I have a 2000 A8L and I have to hold both of those buttons a little while longer and it seems to work for me. If that does not work, then you might have to go to the stealership.
