Default Mmi display failing

I am new to the forum so please excuse me if I am entering this in the wrong place.
I have a 2005 A6, 68K miles, with NAV. Just yesterday, the display started showing vertical lines and it was impossible to read the screen. The Mmi seemed to be working burnout screen. I rebooted the mmi but that did not help.
The only other weird thing happening with the car is that the beep when locking the car is very faint.

The car starts fine and runs well otherwise.

I bought this car 10 months ago and already had to put $4k into it for engine repairs. I am beginning to think it may be an expensive lemon!

I live in vermont so I thought it might just be related to cold temps, but it has been much colder earlier this Winter and this was not a problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

No help out there? Assuming I need to replace the display unit, is that a DIY jod, or is it very complicated? I found OEM screens on eBay for $300.

Hi, Fishvt, i think you don't need pay so much . for the 2005 C6 ,we have the original screen for it.original Sharp Screen from Japan, and you just need to remove and replace it is ok, we will support some picture as it.

Interesting post..

I'm also having a few issues related to the lines on the mmi..

I also interpreted something with the cold weather as it seemed to be worse on cold days. it would get better after the car was warmed up. Now it's completely unreadable.

I'd like to get more information on this topic as well.

FishVT if you end up replacing it yourself or getting the part installed elsewhere, let me know!
