I am having an problem in my new A5 where the nav system does not show the correct position of the car. It does not happen all the time just periodically. Last night I was in one place on a freeway and the nav showed me about thirty miles away. The second thing it does is it shows me on the service road to the freeway rather than the freeway itself. Thus showing the speed limit to the service road rather than the freeway.

I have had it in the shop once and they were unable to duplicate the issue so they did a hard reset of the software. Yesterday since it was clearly incorrect, I took it in again and they told me they would have to see whether it was a sending unit or the system itself.

Anyone experienced this? Fix?

Hi there, I am not sure if you're still checking these forums, but I just joined today to write a post about having the exact same problem. Do you also see crazy elevation numbers on the right side of the screen?

I've had the problem in my car as well as a loan car. My dealer says that corporate is working on a software fix.

Just a quick update. They have now replaced the antenna, the nav unit itself and now the R5 unit (?). We shall see. I should pick the car up today.

 

Hope you have better luck than me. Do you know what an R5 unit is? Can you ask them? They have replaced my antenna/fin (I'm sporting a temp fin right now), the module (which I called the head unit), but not sure about R5.

I'm still being told that a software update for the problem is being worked on by NavTeq with no ETA. I have been in touch with my dealer and Audi USA (who just calls the dealer for an update)
