Need clarification on Ice link and others
So i'm looking ot integrate my ipod to my stereo. I'm aware i will lose the 6 disk, but it's really a non-issue, as the 60gig ipod has all my music on it already.
My question is this. For the Ice Link setup, am I still able to navigate via the ipod itself? I understand that disk buttons 1-5 will switch between the first 5 playlists. What functionality does the disk 6 option add? Will it allow me to navigate directly on the ipod while maintaining the ability to skip tracks on the dash?
I know that there is this product, http://www.mp3yourcar.com/search.asp...4&carYear=1998
Which i have to say i like what it has to offer, but I have not read any experiances about it.
Last question: I have the bose stereo. I keep reading things about symphony, std. audi, symphony II, bose, etc. What is what? All I know is mine says bose when it starts up, and has the volume **** in the middle.
p.s. if it makes a difference, my audi is a 98, 2.8.

icelink is probably the best ipod device for your audi.

i have an additional question. When doing the install, and you have to unplug the wires to hook up the unit (whether it be a blitzsafe or ice link, etc) will i have to re-enter the security code once hooked back up?
I bought my car used, and the owner does not have the code...

Yes, you can use the iPod native interface with the IceLink. If you get the lastest firmware (2.15) you can also use the head unit controls (inc. steering wheel controls) to control various aspects of the iPod interface. I recently posted an in-depth article on integrating an iPod into a 2001 A6 that you may want to check out. LOTS of good info in there, including how to upgrade the firmware to the latest rev.
