Default Question

ALright i went to my local stero shop with a pioneer head unit from my last car,
and they told me theres no way to put it in without switching out all the door speakers.
Is this true?
Or is there some way around it?

Then he was not telling you a lie. the Bose system is not only expensive, not that great, but a pain in the a$$ if you want to put a real system in.

I was very pleased to learn that I did NOT have the bose system in my car. Not that i'll be upgrading any time soon, but when I am ready to do it, I don't have to worry about Bose amps going to every speaker.

From what I remember from my days selling audio gear (mostly home but some car) bose systems have a very low output from thier head units. They have in-line amps going to each speaker in the car. So, in order to change the head unit, you must also bypass each amp. I am not sure if you could just run wire to the existing speakers or not, but I know if someone came to the store w/a Bose system, we sold them everything, HU, amps, speakers, wire, the whole works.

Good luck!

Sad but true.
I was the opposite of muphasta, i was hoping my car had the Bose. I know it doesn't compare to a custom system, but who wants the headache anymore. When i was 18 it was great, but this Bose is great. You replace the deck then you want to do the speakers and everything else. Just more $$$

from experience being a best buy certified tech, like said above, you can just bypass the amp or amps on a bose sound system.it does get into the high price range but i believe best buy will do it for around $200 minus the head unit install (depending on your best buy,we were always pretty leinient [sp?]). not 100% about it with Audi, about 95% sure.I know with nissans its definitly possible, but audi is a complicated car when it comes to wiring. so bring it to a best buy and see what they tell you.
