Default Questions about amp and speaker

I have a 08 TT non bose 140 watt 9 speaker system (non Bose) and just upgraded the HU to the Pioneer F90BT (love it) but now want to go a step or 2 higher on the wattage. What amps and speakers are the best now for around 300 to 400 watts? Or would 200+ be better? I dont want a boom machine just more volume for when the windows are down and still want to keep the clarity. And will I need to replace all 9 speakers or just the larger ones? Thanks.

the wattage of the amp doesn't necessarily mean higher volume. yes it does help, but adding an amp will give you more benefits than that like clearer and more adjustable sound. and you can replace individual speakers but it would be tough to tune the amp for aftermarket speakers and factory. if you only wanna replace the front speakers you could just amplify those. that would be about the most basic approach. in the middle would be replacing all of them and amplifying all. the top approach would be replacing all larger speakers with a component system which includes sperate tweeters. with that approach it would be best to use two amps. as for brands, jl makes some pretty sweet amps and speakers, although a lil pricey. if your looking to keep the price down i would recommend infinity kappa series speakers (stay away from references).

thanks for the reply. I will be putting in a Cobalt 600.4 amp and see how things sound and if not what I want then I will upgrade the speakers. From what I can tell I have 2 tweeters and a center speaker on the dash and a component set in the front doors and a component set in the rear panels. So if I upgrade then it looks like I will have to do all?

okay i would definately stay away from that brand. orion had some bad *** shizznit back in the day but nowadays it aint so cool... spend the extra cash on a good amp...
as previously stated you do not need to replace all speakers. i could explain in great detail but dont wanna take the time. if you need a write up, just ask.
