Default Radio

have an 2005 A6 and the radio will go out from time to time. comes back on and plays fine..then drops out again. I replaced the battery but that wasn't it. Any ideas on what causes that?

Default Your radios

Sounds like you both might have a short on the motherboard. Do you hear anything coming from the speakers? Is it when you hit a bump in the road or is is just happening at different times?

Yea you might just have a bad CD mechanism inside of the unit. Or if everything seems to be working on the unit and you most likely have a BOSE sound system, It could be the amplifier. Do you know what the part number is to your radio?

After the car shut down, I found out that a brand new battery that was purchased 10 days ago was done. Done because it looks as if the alternator was done and running on just the battery. The car completely went into EPC mode. after a quick panic, I was told to check the battery. Car started but radio did not come on. I was also told that the system starts shutting down electrical outlets to conserve. Im thinking it is the alternator. I will let you guys know.

no sound at all from my speakers but the backlight on the radio seems to stay on, even after the car is off. I'm not sure if its staying on the whole time or if it eventually turns off. could that still be a short?

Yes it is sounding more like a short in the system than anything. Sounds like your unit needs to be replaced.
