Rear Speakers
I have a 2000 A4 2.8 with a driver side rear speaker that has gone out on me.
I checked Best Buy and said I needed to buy this from Audi because it's on some type of system.
So I checked Audi and found out it would be $350-400 for just back rear speakers.
Any ideas? Or past experiences?

RE: Rear Speakers
Pretty pricy for the speakers I was amazed.
I called the local Auto Salvage place in town and they didn't have anything.
So I am looking for a salvaged Audi with the Bose speakers in them now.
Let me know if anyone can help me out.

RE: Rear Speakers
The stock left rear speaker has a small amplifier attached to it and drives both the rear speakers using line level imputs from the head unit.
Your best bet is to track down a used one. Most people remove the stock units when upgrading their systems. The alternative is to remove those stock rear speakers and do one of the following:
Option 1: Buy a set of aftermarket 6.5" coaxials, buy an A4 MY99 rear deck speaker adapter (this is so you can fit aftermarket speakers into that square holes Audi put in the parcelshelf), buy a small 2-channel amplifier (20w-40w RMS) and some speaker cable. Use the cables that currently plug into the stock left rear speaker/amplifier to run your new amp and power your new speakers. The amp can be mounted to the rear deck from within the trunk. Total cost would start from $150+ depending on quality of components you select and whether you do the install yourself; or
Option 2: Remove the rear speakers and add a monblock amplifier to drive a subwoofer or two. You can mount 2 x 6.5" or 8" free air woofers into your rear deck or a box in the boot for 1 or 2 10" or 12" subs. Total cost would start from $250.
Personally, I'd add the subwoofer. You'll be impressed with the difference it'll make.
Good luck.
