Reprogramming the GUI/music player
New guy here, nice to meet you.
I'm a broke college kid who happens to drive a brand new allroad. It's great, but I love jamming out in the car, which Audi makes pretty difficult and expensive for me. As you may know, music devices are connected in the glove box, with a special Audi brand connector. The pins don't fit anything but the tailor made cables made by Audi, which run ~ $70 per cord and are very short.
The question I'm asking you: has anyone attempted/succeeded in reprogramming the GUI? I bought a cheap $15 30-pin (they gave me the iPod connector for free [but iPod is no longer alive]) to auxiliary converter, but when I connect my phone to it, it's not read as the GUI is polling for Apple hardware and never finds it. I am comfortable with the idea of doing it myself, although I don't know where to start.
Any information would be much appreciated, as everyone at the dealership looks at me like I'm crazy and tells me to just buy the damn cable.
Cheers!
