Spare wire when fitting a stereo

Spare wire when fitting a stereo
Does anybody know what the brown cable with the female blade connector on the end is for? I have fitted a pioneer aftermarket stereo using a loom adapter but this wire seems to be on its own.
Also the stereo won't switch off with the ignition, is this just something you have to accept on the a4 or can it be wired differently?

RE: Spare wire when fitting a stereo
My '98 A8 (non bose) has the same brown/blue cable with the female spade conector in the end. I also don't know what to do with it, but I've measured it and always (ingnition on and off) have the same result: 6.9volts.
But that's not the only problem. I'm trying to install a new becker stereo/navigator and i can't realize what happens with the audi wiring. Where it's supposed to be continuous power (pin 4 in the brown iso connector), there are always 0 volts (car on and off), and where it's supposed to be "power when ignition on" (pin 7 brown iso), there are always continuous power. Do I need an adapter? I don't think so because the rest of the pins look ok (except pins 1,2 and 3 are not present and i need the first one to be the GALA signal for the navi)
Why pin 4 never gets power? Could it be a bad fuse somewhere?
Thank you for your answers.

RE: Spare wire when fitting a stereo
Thank you for the diagram Jestnomen. But my problem is in that the first three pins in the black connector (wiring harness no the radio) are not wired. There's nothing going to them. Also there's no voltage in the pin 4 (but its is wired to a red/green cable), and a brown/blue cable with a female spade connector is there connected to nothing.
How can I fix this mess?[sm=smiley5.gif]

RE: Spare wire when fitting a stereo
Well the diagram says:
Pin one - GALA sensor - dont need that its stupid anyway.
Pin two - Nothing
Pin three - K line for diagnosistics with a VAG-COM. You don't need that anymore with an aftermarket radio.
Pin four in the brown connector is a speaker wire, so of course you'll not read any voltate across it.
Continuous power is found in the 20 pin connector pin 16.
