Speaker Replacement on A6 Non-Bose
Ok, breaking the cherry here, this is my first post. I bought a '01 A6 2.8Q a couple of months back (yeah, wish I had more power, but still great car), and am really itching to upgrade the speakers in it. It is a non-Bose system. I've gone so far as removing door panels and taking some measurements just to make sure on speaker sizes. Looks like I can put 6.5" speakers upfront and in the back. My main question revolves around the component speakers in these cars. Would I be ok replacing with another component set of speakers and not using the supplied crossover that comes with the aftermarket speakers? Is the signal already crossed over coming out of the head unit running into the components as they are now? Wanted to see if anyone had any experience around this. Thanks.

RE: Speaker Replacement on A6 Non-Bose
Ok, with the overwhelming responses, I think I'm just going to order some Boston Acoutics components and give them a whirl. Both factory and the Bostons are 4 Ohm, and looks like they should line up. I'll let you know how it goes.
