Ok i found that tapping into the amp input wiring harness is near impossible due to its location, very tight in there, can't get anything done. So i figured I would tap in behind the CD player and run the RCA's back from there. Now I guess the audi's use a common ground, and I for the life of me can't remember how they work (My nissan 300zx did too, and i worked around it)

Can someone let me know how to connect a Line Level Converter to the s4 factory radio?

Ok so i think im gonna try tapping in to the stock sub wiring. The wattage isn't too high for a 80 watt LoC is it? Im gonna wire it like i drew on the diagram on pg 1

Ok, I have completed the installation in about 8 hrs (probably 1-2 now that I know how to do it). I will post a DIY guide tomorrow or sometime this week with detailed photographs. Unfortunately my camera was dead, but i will take some post isntallation, which is easy enough to access key areas of the installation.

good deal. Yea thats why i was telling you that hooking those wires to the rear of the amp or the cd player is going to be extensive amount of work. That why i use the stock sub. So how do your subs sound. Be prepared for rattles near the sunroof if ur stuff hits hardenough. And the license plate and some small vents in the lower rear of the trunk cause rattles also. I actually blew off my speaker grill the other day cuz i had my stuff turned up so loud.

It sounds ok. some rattle from the license plate, because There is something wrong with the holder, but not much. What I put in there is a little dated and is about 5 years old, been sitting for the last 4. Other than that, it adds some great low end sound.

Im gonna put in a Alpine IVA-W505 http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...098255&catid=# Soon. I was given some great info on the12volt.com:

http://www.metraonline.com/products.aspx?s=70-1787
http://www.metraonline.com/products.aspx?s=99-9107B
http://www.metraonline.com/products.aspx?s=40-VW54

THe installation accessories I will need to work with the factory wires, etc...

After that, I think I will replace the Sub and Amp, depending on how it sounds with the new deck.

Alright, I am no electronics wizard by any means, but I just can't get my amp to get signal. I have a h/l converter and I've tried wiring it up to everything, nothing. I have power to the amp but no signal. I tapped the output wires out of the amp and the input wires to the amp(factory). The input I'm not sure about but the output I know I had right. Any ideas? I've tried hooking into the factory sub too.

Do u have ur remote wire hooked up? First check to see if u have power to the amp. If u do then check ur rcas. Make sure u have them wired up right. Where did u try to hook up ur loc? If all else fails i tapped my loc into the rear sub underneath the grill on the rear deck. Subs arent that complicated when it comes to wiring. There is only so many things that can be wrong. Lemme know how things go and we can go from there.

So it turns out I am a complete idiot. I tried every wiring configuration I could think of. Just as I was about to hang it up I thought I would check the sub to see if it was still connected. Nope. No wonder it wouldnt work. I ended up with it wired to the speaker inputs to the amp. It seems to work OK. Thanks for the help and sorry to waste your time.

no problem glad u got everything working. With this type of equipement best to always check ur wires. Just a helpful tip but make sure ur ground wire is as short as posisible cuz it makes a large difference in sound.
