Subwoofer Installation Prep

Subwoofer Installation Prep
I have a 2000 A4 1.8t and I've found a pair of 12" Alpine Type R's on craigslist that I'd like to have installed. At the moment, all of my audio is stock and I was mainly wondering whether or not i should install a new, aftermarket deck before getting into the subs. As I'm sure many of you know the stock A4 deck is pretty large and well integrated into the dashboard/AC unit so I was also wondering if it would even be possible to cleanly install the new deck without my electronic system looking all "butchered" up. Here's a pic for those who are not familiar.
Thanks,
Anthony

You would need a double din if u want to replace the headunit. basically the only way it will look semi decent is if u replace the headunit with some sort of screen. Or u could always go the route of the inline converter and keep the stock headunit. Easiest way for that is to tap into the rear subwoofers wires. They are the easiest ones to get too and are tangled with hoards of other wires. I have two type r 12s running of the stock headunit. Though i blared the crap outta my speakers when i first got it most of my stock speakers sound like crap now but i got a good 2 or 3 years of blaring out of them. Overall cheapest route is the inline. you will suffer on sound quality but gain in the $$$ and with an audi have $$ is a must for maintanence.
