Wipers won't come on after being turned off
Hi,
I have this weird problem with my 2004 A3. I posted in the general electronics forums because I guess it is not A3 related per se.
My wipers work fine when I turn them on. Smooth movement at different speeds, interval works also. Switching between different speeds and/or interval also works.
However, if I turn them off they won't come back on again. I have to turn off the iginition and wait a while, then they will work again, until I turn them off... rinse & repeat.
VCDS tells me all the correct positions on the stalk. The body control module shows the wiper as 'off' initially, but once it is 'on' it stays 'on', although the stalk says 'off' and the wipers have stopped.
I have swapped out the BCM to no avail.
Is there another electronic component that might be in play? I thought maybe the motor assembly has to tell the BCM "yes, I have finished, consider me turned off" or something.
I hope this sounds familiar to anyone, I prefer not to throw parts at this without an idea of what it could be...
Regards,
JM
